OUR STORY
The Red Rooster Lodge has a long family history spanning three generations. The current owner’s grandfather and grandmother originally built the main lodge and bunk house as a place to retire in the seclusion of the Sierra Mountains some 45 years ago.
Rather than living here, Simon and Ethel used the lodge as a vacation getaway for the family. With 5 sons and 15 grandchildren you can only imagine the family gatherings that took place. During the summer it was hiking and in the winter it was time to hit the sleds!
Throughout the years it also doubled as the families hunting lodge an outpost for friends and family to rest after a long day. Today, The Red Rooster Lodge continues to reflect its rich past. With 30 years of experience in the area, we’re a fun group that has a wealth of knowledge about the region. Over the years we have come to understand what it takes to be a great vacation spot!
Our guests enjoy the rustic charm that The Red Rooster has to offer. There is a feeling of home away from home. Don’t expect pavement and parking lots. Do expect quiet, comfort, and community. Our bed and breakfast is big on hospitality so, you’re in for an experience you’ve never encountered before!

"Wish I could have stayed longer. From the moment I arrived, I enjoyed the staff, the facilities and the serenity. Fresh air, good food and solitude added to the experience. If you need a break, this is the place." - Anonymous
"Great home renovated into a B&B. Wonderfully yummy breakfast, and fantastic dinners made to order! Adam and Maggie are phenomenal cooks (Best food in the area by far!!)!! Have them cook you a meal at the end of your day, Sitting on the patio with a bottle of wine (and our baby monitor) made the trip! 3 courses of goooooodness. They are lovely people that live there. We had the John Muir room, perfect for my husband, baby, and myself (it's a large master bedroom, private bath and patio)." - Britt
"We had a wonderful stay at the Red Rooster Lodge. The couple who checked us in were an absolute delight! Incredibly helpful and kind and accommodating. Helped us with where to go for dinner, as well as giving us directions to a great local spot to watch the sunset. The lodge itself was very secluded and quiet which made for a relaxing time. We would definitely recommend staying here." - Tim
